MVP for Briink Intelligence

Briink Intelligence is a seed stage startup working on an NLP powered solution for companies to prepare their EU Taxonomy assessments. They work diligently to understand the complex EU sustainability legal framework and build a solution that is easy to use, powered by NLP and AI. During the rapid initial stages of a company you need to iterate quickly and get it in front of potential customers to get feedback and search for product-market fit.

I designed data models to store the EU Taxonomy framework. This is a comprehensive list of activities that are considered sustainable or not sustainable, with precisely defined criteria. The data model is designed to be extensible and easy to update as the EU Taxonomy evolves, which it does frequently.

Although the MVP did not yet support teams and collaboration, I designed the models to enable this in a future round of developement. This is a key feature for Briink, as they want to support teams of people working together to prepare their assessments, with precise control over view and editing permissions.

The app is developed on Next.js with a React frontend and a Node backend. This tight integration makes development fast and typesafe— the frontend and the backend share types, and changes to the data models are the API were very easy to implement.

Authentication is handled by Auth0, and the backend is deployed on GKE Kubernetes, ready to integrate with the NLP services they are developing. The app is hosted on Google Cloud Storage, and the database is hosted on Google Cloud SQL.
